Philip Vaughan | Chief Creative Officer

Mr. Vaughan brings extensive knowledge and practice to leading BIG Idea Groups’ Architectural and Entertainment Design team. A Senior Associate with over 25 years of directly related experience, Mr. Vaughan honed his experiential design and production skills at Walt Disney Imagineering and Universal Studios, where he worked on Disney's EPCOT Center project, Tokyo Disneyland, and Universal's Wakayama project to name a few.  He has continued to serve as the lead designer and production consultant for major players in location-based entertainment, mixed-use resorts and the theme park industry on project in the United States, Europe, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and China.

Mr. Vaughan has been a leader in the planning, design and implementation of Branded Cities, Entertainment based mixed use projects that range from Theme Parks, Movie Parks and Water Parks to Animal Adventure Parks and Museums. He brings a deep and diverse experience in Architecture Design for Resorts, Mixed Use Retail, Performance as well as experiential design of Immersive Environments and Ride Layouts.

Philip Vaughan studied architecture at Cambridge University and holds a diploma in Fine Art (first class) from Chelsea School of Art, London. He did post-graduate work as a research assistant at Newcastle Polytechnic School of Fine Art, specializing in kinetics.  He also taught at a number of art schools in England, including a two-year assignment as Lecturer in Fine Art at the City of London University. He creates fine art paintings and sculptures in addition to his entertainment design work.  Philip is also an avid sailor and has crossed the Atlantic in a sailboat he built by himself.
